SINOPSE: / ABOUT BOOK:
"This book is about war in Africa. It is a true story of a conflict going on at this moment in the jungles, scrub and desert country of Angola - a war in which people, mblack and white, are dying every day. Some will have died before the reader has finished this book.

The guerrilla war in Angola is not an isolated example of insurgency warfare in Africa. Similar wars are being fought in Guinea on the West African Coast and Mozambique to the east. The Rhodesians and South Africans of late have also experienced the first thrust of a well-trained, well-armed guerrilla force which is using every trick in the book of unconventional warfare to secure an advantage.

The war in Angola is a harsh campaign. The blac Guerrillas dictate the way it is fought. They strike when it suits them. They only engage in battle when they are confident that they have a material advantage. It is for this reason that a Portuguese Army of almost 60.000 men is tied down to counter a guerrilla threat of barely one-sixth that number.

But tactics and statistics apart, the angolan war is also significant historically. It is not generally realized that on its outcome - one way or the other - may depend the future of whole Southern African sub-continent."
